about

Know Me Better is a dreamy, spacious and yet raw song about being in a bad place, oblivious to friends around you that see the best in you and want the best for you. The song ebbs and flows through reverberant, shoegaze inspired soundscapes until building to a crescendo as John shouts "It's just chemicals making me feel this way."

lyrics

I’m only writing in my sleep
And it’s gone when I awake
Probably not a loss, but who’s to say?
I dove heart first into a hope deferred
Call my friends, they’re all at work
And I’m not living where I used to
But sometimes I’ll stop by
Start a fight, stay the night

Friends who know me better
Say I can do better than this
Oh
Friends who know me better
Say I can do better than this
Oh

I can’t sleep for fear of spiders
I spy their eyes as I close mine
The clothesline creaking outside
Outlines of the blinds as shadows hit my face
I’m frozen in place
Scratching my skin as though they’ve been
Crawling on me as I fear
Spiders that don’t exist
I’m losing it

Friends who know me better
Say I can do better than this
Oh
Friends who know me better
Say I can do better than this
Oh
Friends who know me better
Say I can do better than this
Oh

It’s just chemicals
Making me
Feel this way
(Repeat a million times)
